Traveling the world as a digital nomad has always been a dream of mine, and I’ve written in other blogs about this lifestyle. This makes it incredibly convenient and manageable for long-term travelers and digital nomads like us. I’ve had to make a claim with them in 2023 (unfortunatley of course because no one wants that, but it can happen), and the process was surprisingly easy and straightforward. After submitting my claim, I received the reimbursement within a few weeks. This promptness of receiving back from the claim was very impressive and helped reduce stress I was experiencing at that time. Since then, SafetyWing has further improved their claims process, shortening the time it takes to receive payouts. Knowing that they are continually working to improve their services gives me great confidence and peace of mind while traveling as well as to refer them to others.

As a digital nomad, I've had the privilege of working from some of the most inspiring and beautiful locations around the globe. From the charming vineyards of Niagara-on-the-Lake to the bustling streets of Buenos Aires, each destination has its own unique blend of culture, creativity, and community.
When travelling, we either work from our condo that we rent in each city or sometime mix it up and take our laptops to a local café I find or a co-working space. This helps to keep us creative and inspired. I share my guide in this blog to the best co-working spaces and cafés that I’ve been to so far, from Canada, USA and Argentina.

Junction Coffee Bar: This is a fairly new cozy charming cafe tucked away in St. Davids area of Niagara-on-the-Lake. There is great seating and lots of patio space with locally sourced coffee and gourmet treats. They offer a cozy retreat for remote workers seeking a change of scenery. Whether you're catching up on emails or brainstorming ideas, this inviting café invites you to unwind, recharge, and immerse yourself in the laid-back charm of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Balzac's Coffee Roasters: For a change of scenery, head to Balzac's Coffee Roasters located in the historic downtown area. This cute café boasts Victorian-era décor, artisanal coffee blends, and ample seating both indoors and outdoors. It is perfectly located in the small downtown area so after you’re done working, you can go for a walk, have a nice dinner, or enjoy a horse and carriage ride to learn all about the towns long and haunted history.

Station 1 Coffee House : This family-owned beautiful cafe in Beamsville, Ontario is a fantastic place for digital nomads due to its cozy and welcoming atmosphere, which is perfect for focused work sessions. It used to be a fire station now turned cafe, that offers free high-speed Wi-Fi and plenty of comfortable seating options, allowing for a productive day. If you plan to work there during the busy hours, they have special seating in the back that looks like a little coworking space. They have amazing food, ranging from freshly baked pastries to hearty sandwiches, provides delicious fuel to keep you going. The friendly staff and the community-oriented vibe make it an inviting spot for both working and unwinding. P.S: if you’re there during breakfast, you HAVE to try the Big A** breakfast sandwich!! Neo Coffee Bar: This modern Japanese café has grown so much and they have a few locations in the heart of Toronto's downtown core. You’ll notice a minimalist aesthetic design and delicious artisanal coffee creations, velvety lattes to delicate Japanese pastries, every sip and bite is crafted with precision and care. Whether you're seeking inspiration for your next project or simply unwinding after a day of work, Neo Coffee Bar is definitley me favourite place.

Regus Coworking Spaces: The offer a global network of flexible workspaces designed to fuel productivity and collaboration. They have locations all across Florida and beyond, and provide digital nomads with a diverse range of environments to thrive in their remote work journey. Whether you prefer a busy city like Miami or a serene suburban setting like Fort Myers, Regus offers the infrastructure and space you need. The space is comfortable and they have free high speed Wi-Fi.
Pura Vida Café: This cute café has the vibe of Miami at Pura Vida Café, they have a few locations in South Florida and in South Beach, Miami. This café has has a very delicious and healthy menu including organic juices, smoothie bowls, and nutrient-rich dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Plus, they make the best croissants in the US I’ve ever had. With its laid-back vibe and beach-inspired décor, it is perfect for digital nomads seeking a balance of wellness and productivity.

Capital One Café Coworking Space: Nestled in the seaport area of downtown Boston, this is a great place to get work done. Whether you're a freelancer, entrepreneur, or remote worker, this innovative space provides a welcoming environment as well as two floors of co-working spaces. It has a modern design, state-of-the-art amenities, and a private office that is first come, first serve which is great if you need to be on calls. We had a chance to meet the manager who treated us so well.
Café Nero: If you want a taste of European charm in the heart of Boston, check out Café Nero! It’s such a cozy place, they have freshly baked pastries, and artisanal coffee blends. This café offers a haven for digital nomads seeking inspiration and looking to work. Once you get your work done you can walk a few short steps to the pier where you can see the famous view of Boston’s skyline.
Boston Public Library: This is one of the most beautiful placeI’ve worked at! It’s great for digital nomads to work due to its extensive amenities and conducive work environment. Firstly, it offers free high-speed Wi-Fi and plenty of comfortable seating options. The library of course has a wealth of resources, including books, periodicals, and online databases, provides valuable support for research and information needs. Its central location in Boston, combined with the inspiring and historical architecture, not only makes it easily accessible but also creates an atmosphere that can enhance creativity and focus.

Santander Coworking Café: Located in the heart of downtown Mendoza, Santander Coworking Café offers a unique blend of productivity and relaxation in Argentina's wine capital. They have an inviting atmosphere and friendly staff. Santander Café provides the perfect balance between work and leisure. I really enjoyed being here and working.

Josephinas Cafe: This cafe is located in the heart of Recoleta in Buenos Aires, surrounded by trees and historic buildings. It has a large patio with lots of shade and good seating inside with free Wi-Fi. It’s a cute cozy local cafe for digital nomads who come to Argentina's capital city to work in a beautiful location that helps you be productive and creative.
Confitería La Ideal: This café is very historic and immediately reminds you of Buenos Aires' tango culture. This historic café, located in the downtown Buenos Aires and, has been a gathering place for tango enthusiasts since 1912. Everything is so beautiful here, from the décor, live music, and delicious pastries, Confitería La Ideal offers a journey through Argentina's rich cultural heritage. The portions are very large and I highly recommend to try the tasty medialunas. This iconic café provides a glimpse into the soul of Buenos Aires.

A “Day-In-The-Life” of a Digital Nomad Remote Worker
Imagine waking up to the sound of waves against the shore, the salty sea breeze through your window and seeing palm trees moving in the gentle wind. This isn't just a dream—it's the reality for a digital nomad, whose office extends far beyond the confines of their four walls in their home country. Step into my day-in-the-life as a digital nomad, where every sunrise can bring a new destination and every sunset paints the sky with the colors of possibility.
I have worked from home since 2020 and started my journey as a digital nomad in 2021 with my husband and I love this lifestyle. However it is not for everyone and comes with it’s own set of challenges and you need to be very strategic in how you manage your day and time. Sometimes you can easily get distracted and play more then you work, especially if you are just starting this lifestyle.
I thought I would share my daily routine and how I balance work, travel and how I stay productive. Hopefully it will help you, whether you’re new at this or you have been a remote worker but are facing challenges in managing your day.

A digital nomad is someone who uses technology to work remotely and live a location-independent lifestyle. Instead of being tied to a specific location, as digital nomads we have the freedom to travel and work from anywhere as long as they have an internet connection. All you really need is a laptop, smartphone, and other digital tools to stay connected and productive while on the move.
Digital nomads are not only self-employed entrepreneurs or freelancers but they can also work in corporate and have a job as long as their boss and company allows them to be fully remote and travel.
You can also be a digital nomad in your own country, moving across the country and living in different cities. You can also do that in a van or even a boat. Why not right?
A Morning Routine
A Morning Routine
I’ve developed a morning routine that I can stick to no matter where I am. The most important is to get enough sleep and wake up early before you need to be in meetings or answering emails. This depends if you have to work between certain hours in a specific time zone. For me this doesn’t apply unless I have client meetings because it is in their time zone.
For me, my morning routine is very simple. After I’ve gotten ready for the day, I go for a nice coffee and a croissant with my husband to a local café. I love this time in the morning watching everyone going about their day and is a great slow start to our day.
Then we will walk back to our condo where we are staying and get on our laptops and start going through emails.
How I Stay Organized
How I Stay Organized
I respond first to any urgent emails from clients, and clean up the rest and schedule out my calendar for the day on what I need to do at what time. I colour code my tasks in my calendar and I use the morning hours when I am most productive for my harder tasks that require more focus. Any admin work I save for later in the afternoon.
For any important tasks that I need to focus on, I make sure I turn off notifications during that time and put my phone away so I am not distracted.
I use Asana’s project management tool to stay organized on projects and tasks. If you haven’t used it, try it because it was a game-changer for me. They have a free and paid version but I find the free version, it works perfectly for me.
I think the number one thing it comes down to is being disciplined and pretending you have a boss even if you don’t.
Being Creative
Being Creative
I find the constant travel to new locations actually helps me be very creative and inspires me so much! Not only are me and my husband business owners of our own company but I am also a content creator and YouTuber so this lifestyle works so well for me.
After our work is done we like to go out for a coffee and a walk in the city or on the beach to watch sunset, depending on where we live at that time.
Another thing that helps me be creative is we often take our laptops to work in a local co-working space or a cafe.
Staying Healthy
Staying Healthy
This is something that is extremely important to manage as a digital nomad and one of my biggest challenges. You can completely let your health goals go out the window because you want to eat all the food and sightsee so you can say to yourself that you don’t have time to exercise.
I’ve been there but I realize that the longer I stay in a location the easier it is to cook at home and build a better routine because you’re not in a rush to do and see everything. I would say 3 months minimum is what you need in a location.
We always bring supplements when we travel and we try to go local natural health food stores to buy anything else we need during our stay.
Once the daily after work walk is done I will either make dinner at home or do a workout then make dinner depending on the level of hungriness.
Balancing Work and Fun

Because we can work any hours or days we want, we will either do sightseeing on the weekends, or we will work though the weekend and do sightseeing during the week when there are less crowds. We also take Fridays off completely or we will work half the day because we’re the boss!
During the week too we will go out for dinner a few times and we try to always go to a new place we’ve never been to before.

The digital nomad life where you can work and travel to countries around the world, used to be something only a small percentage of people used to take advantage of before the pandemic. Now, probably you have met at least one person in real life who does this as well as many people you may see on Instagram.
There are so many beautiful destinations around the world that are a perfect place for a digital nomad to live and work, whether you work for a remote company or you’re self-employed or a freelancer.
I would have to say that my favourite destination for digital nomads has to be Niagara-on-the-lake, Canada. I’ve spent so much time here in different seasons and it has so much to offer if you’re a digital nomad.
Niagara-on-the-lake, Canada needs more credit in being a hotspot for digital nomads because now is a perfect time to go there because they offer a lot more today. If you are interested in making this your next digital nomad destination, then keep reading to find out why.

This is very exciting because as a tourist you were limited on how long you could stay based on your citizenship. Now the digital nomad visa allows you to stay on this visa for 180 days and it is renewable for 6 months at a time. The Canadian government allows you during this time to get a sponsored job with a Canadian company where you would be able to bring your skills to a Canadian employer by applying for a temporary work permit or even permanent residence.

Canada is not the cheapest country but every $1 CAD is worth $0.73 USD, €0.68 EUR and ￡0.59 GBP. So if you make any of those currencies, then you get more for your money in Canada.

Having a strong internet connection in critical for a digital nomad to be able to work properly. There are a lot of amazing coworking spaces and cafes you can work at and your condo or AirBnB will have a strong connection.
My favourite cafes to work at in Niagara-on-the-lake: Junction Coffee Bar, Balzac's Coffee Roasters, and of course Starbucks.

Canadians are some of the most friendly people especially in smaller towns like Niagara-on-the-lake, Ontario. They are helpful and patient and will help to make your time here much more enjoyable.

Niagara-on-the-lake, Ontario is a foodie heaven because there are so many amazing restaurants and dishes to try and almost all the restaurants are farm-to-table and use local produce that is also seasonal to make your meals so delicious and healthy. Any restaurant in this cozy cute town will be amazing. I highly recommend to also eat lunch or dinner at some of the local wineries here.
6. Historic, picturesque Town with a Vibrant culture and lots to do

Niagara-on-the-lake, Ontario has a very long history. It was founded by German Mennonites and is the most beautiful town that looks like something out of a movie (many movies were filmed here), the war of 1812 was fought here with the Americans and is a great place to get away from the big cities to allow you to enjoy beautiful scenery while you work to help make you more creative.
After your work you can enjoy a horse and carriage ride, nature walk, hiking down the Niagara gorge to the Niagara river, Ghost Walks tours (yes it is the most haunted town in North America), visiting the famous Niagara Falls and of course doing some wine tastings. Niagara-on-the-lake is the wine growing and production capital of Canada and here you can try some world-famous Ice Wine that is produced only here and Germany. There are hundreds of wineries here that you can go visit on your own or do a tour on a bus or a bicycle. There are also several brewerys here as well.
There are other beautiful hikes and waterfalls you can go to that are very close to Niagara.

You are only about 1.5 hours driving into the big city of Toronto for Blue Jays or Raptors games, shopping or site seeing. You can either rent a car or take the GO Train into the city. It’s very convenient because the Go Train is frequent on weekends and you can even get an express train that takes you into Union Station which is walking distance to almost all the main places to visit in the city like the CN tower, Rogers center and the famous Royal York hotel and connects you to the metro system.
You are even closer to cross the border into Buffalo, NY. This is a great option if you want to fly into the Buffalo Intrantional Airport instead of Toronto Pearson International Airport because it sometimes can be cheaper.

The best option to get around if you don't want to use Uber because Uber is not a frequent as in Toronto, is either a bicycle with a bike share service like Zoom Bike Share or NRT OnDemand. Which is like Uber Pool with other riders, picks you up at your desired location in a small 6-7 seater van and drops you off at your desired location but it is the cost of public transit ($3/4 one way)! You can download the app or learn more on their website.

Prior to the pandemic the digital nomad life was still something uncommon and most people still didn’t know what it was or understand it. The good thing that came out of this crazy time was, it accelerated the work-from-anywhere lifestyle and many countries introduced a digital nomad visa over the last two years. Now when I speak to someone, more people know what it is generally.
A lot of people have started living their dream of being digital nomad and it’s definitley been a beautiful adventure.
There are different pros and cons of living the digital nomad life. So if this is something you’ve been thinking about, then keep reading.
The Pros
1) Flexibility
Digital nomads can work from anywhere with an internet connection, which allows them to set their own schedules and work from places that inspire them. With all these countries that have introduced a digital nomad visa you can stay in a new country every year. 2) Travel Opportunities
Being a digital nomad allows you to travel and experience new cultures while still being able to work and earn an income. As a digital nomad you can stay in a new country every year so you have lots of time to be immersed in the local culture and enjoy evenings and weekends doing lots of new fun things and then you don’t even feel like you need a vacation because then you move on to a new country.
3) Can Help Save You Money
Since digital nomads are not tied to one location, they can choose to live in lower-cost areas or take advantage of affordable travel options, which can help save money. This is definitley a big pro. Most countries who offer a digital nomad visa have a very low cost of living.

Working in a new environment can help to stimulate creativity, and improve productivity. You have traded in your regular routine to something new and inspiring, so this benefits a persons mental health and productivity.

Despite the many benefits and perks of digital nomad life, there are some work from anywhere drawbacks to think about if you’re considering becoming a digital nomad.
The Cons
1) Loneliness
Digital nomads often work alone and may not have a strong support network or community in their location, which can lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness. If your spouse or partner join that is amazing and I highly recommend that.
2) Lack of Stability
As a digital nomad you may not have a stable income, as they may have to deal with fluctuations in demand or client work. Additionally, they may not have a stable living situation, as they may move frequently or live in short-term accommodations.
3) Constant Travelling
While travel can be a pro of digital nomadism, it can also be tiring and stressful. Frequent travel can disrupt routines and lead to exhaustion. Some people don’t mind it so you need to think about if you’re ok with that.
4) Less of a Social Life
Digital nomads may find it difficult to build lasting relationships or create a social life in a new location due to their constantly changing surroundings. You will definitely meet new people and since they’re moving around as well you will likely need to maintain that relationship via social.
5) Time Zone Differences
Depending on where you are in the world, you may have to work odd hours to accommodate clients or colleagues in other time zones, which can disrupt your sleep schedule and make it difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Depending on what you do for work, this may impact you in a bigger way for example, if you have to be online working Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm EST. This is definitely one of freelancing advantages and disadvantages if you work as a freelancer.
6) Lack of a Routine
Digital nomads may struggle to establish a routine due to the constantly changing environments and lack of stability in their work and living situations. However, if you stay in a country for six months to a year, then you end up developing a routine but it will be disrupted when you move.
7) Slower Internet Connectivity
Reliable internet access can be a challenge in some locations, which can impact productivity and make it difficult to stay in touch with clients or colleagues.
It's important to consider both the pros and cons of digital nomadism before deciding whether it's the right lifestyle for you.

Read This Before Travelling to Cuba – Cuba Travel Updates
If you're traveling to Cuba for the first time, or it's been a long time since you've been there, then you want to read this post.
I've been to Cuba at least six times, including right before the lockdowns and most recently in June of 2022. So, I wanted to share with you everything that you need to know before traveling to Cuba on your next trip. There have been some BIG changes, so keep reading to find out what those changes are.
#1) Currency
Cuba before 2020 was using the CUC, which was the Cuban convertible peso, and there were talks that they were going to get rid of that. There were actually two currencies in Cuba at the time. The Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC) was really for the tourists and the locals always used the CUP, which is the Cuban National Peso or also known as Moneda National (MN). Now everyone including the tourists use CUP.
#2) No More Pandemic Restrictions
This could be permanent, or it could be temporary, but currently right now there are no more mandates in Cuba from the pandemic. All mask requirements in the airport and everywhere you go have been removed. Also, there are no more vaccine requirements anywhere in Cuba including entering Cuba. It is a completely back to normal the way it was before the pandemic but keep up to date with the Cuba travel requirements in case this changes.
#3) Exchanging Money
There are 4 ways to exchange money in Cuba. You can exchange your money when you land at the airport and every hotel pretty much has a currency exchange called Cadeca, or you can go to a local bank.
The other unorthodox way that a lot of people exchange money in Cuba is actually when you're in the hotel, you meet some of the staff, they can actually exchange your money for you and they will give you the best currency exchange rate as opposed to the bank or the airport or the hotel because they value Euros, Pounds, Canadian dollars or American dollars more than their own national currency.
We were told this from the local staff. To them, their national currency is pretty much worthless because they can't do anything with that money. If they want to buy anything, leave the country, etc. they need to have international currency. So that's why they will give you a better exchange rate and they will be more than happy to exchange your money for you. Of course if you choose to exchange your money this way, this is completely up to your discretion, it's not a recommendation.
Also, Cubans will not accept any sort of coins at all, only paper money. If someone does accept coins, they will later ask another tourist to exchange those coins they have, if they have enough, into a paper bill. What I would recommend is to exchange your money in your home country and take American $1 bills with you because that's going to help you when tipping or if you need small change. Most people won't have exact change for you. You'll also notice that everything is priced mostly in US Dollars or CUP (MN). Most of the clothing or any shopping that you do, is priced in USD.
Keep in mind, you can pay with the Cuban National Peso (CUP/MN), or you can use American, Canadian, Pounds or Euros to pay when you're in Cuba. If you bring enough of your own currency, you don't have to actually exchange into Cuban money when you're there. However, keep in mind that most of the people, especially if you're outside of the resorts, won't have change.
#4) Tipping
How much you tip really depends on where you go. If you're just having a coffee at the lobby in your hotel, tipping $1 $2 is fine but if you're going to eat at a restaurant, or tipping your housekeeper, then of course you want to tip a little bit more.
There is no standard percentage of tipping in Cuba. It's up to your discretion how much you want to tip.
#5) Airport Transportation
If you booked your trip as an all-inclusive package with hotel and flight, your package will include an airport shuttle bus pickup and drop off. So, when you arrive to the airport, you have to look for a representative from company that you booked with.
They usually have a representative at the arrivals area when you exit the airport. You just approach them and give them your name, your flight and what hotel you’re staying at, and they will tell you what bus is going to take you to your hotel. If you choose to fly in without a tour company and you booked your own way, there are definitely lots of taxis when you get there.
As part of the shuttle when you're getting to your hotel, there will be also other people on that bus and the bus will be stopping at different hotels to drop them off.
There is a guide on the bus who announces which hotel stop is next, and sometimes they'll provide you beer and refreshments on the bus! They always will ask for a tip for the shuttle bus driver and the guide.
#6) Getting a Local SIM
You can go to an ETECSA store, and got a Cubacel SIM card. The sim card will work on even the newest iPhone and gives you a local phone number and depending on the plan you choose, you get some minutes, data, texting, calling for about 250 CUP (about $10-$15 USD).
This is very convenient because if you leave the resort, then you won't have cell service or data and perhaps you don't want to be paying the exorbitant roaming fees that your home cell phone provider will charge you if you remove your phone from airplane mode. So this is very convenient and it works perfectly. If you keep that SIM card and use it at least once a year you get to keep the same number.
#7) The World Famous Tropicana Show
This show is the famous show in Havana and has been going on since 1939. Ernest Hemingway actually used to go and watch the shows there. It's very famous and it's a great experience that I highly recommend! You can go on your own or as part of a tour package to Havana you can book from your hotel. It will be a day trip to Havana and then they will take you to a hotel where you can shower change and get ready for the show.
It starts around 8pm or 9pm and goes until midnight. As part of your admission, you have drinks included and a complimentary cigar you can smoke while watching the show.
The venue is so beautiful surrounded by trees and when you go inside, the actual seating and show is outside in a very large outdoor courtyard.
#8) New Cabaret Show in Varadero
In Varadero they have opened up a new cabaret show similar to the Tropicana which is located just outside the Malia International Hotel. There's a separate building and it's called the Continental Cabaret.
This show is a wonderful experience and if you're in Varadero, I highly recommend going there as a night out. You can go really early and have dinner there. Then there's a little bit of a break before the show starts around 9pm. The price for entry includes some drinks as well. The show goes on until midnight with a disco afterwards until about 3am.
#9) How Do You Say Cigars in Spanish?
Well, I don't know about Spanish, but in Cuba you don't call a cigar Cigarro, you actually call it Tobacco. If you say Cigarro, they're will think you're talking about cigarettes.
#10) Buying Cigars
Right now finding Cohiba cigars is very difficult especially the thick ones. They're quite hard to find everywhere in Cuba. Also, the prices of all Cuban cigars in Cuba have increased in the summer of 2022.
I will also tell you to be careful not to buy cigars from a local who's selling it to you from the hotel or anywhere who tells you, “I can get you a great deal. I have a friend who can get you great cigars, Cohibas, brand names, etc.”
Most of the time those are actually fakes and unless you are a seasoned cigar smoker and you know exactly what to look for, you probably won't be able to tell if it's a fake or not. So whether you're a seasoned cigar smoker or not, I highly recommend to always stick to buying it at the official retail stores. That way you know that you're not going to find yourself shortchanged.
#11) Getting Around Varadero
There are 2 ways to get around Varadero. Taxi, which is very easy and convenient. You'll have to negotiate the fair with the taxi driver. The other option is you can take the double decker bus that drives you up and down Varadero from downtown Varadero all the way to the end, which is the Marina Varadero.
It stops at certain hotels along the way and it's also very easy and convenient. The price is $5 USD or 5 Euros and they will either take or cash or credit card on the bus and then give you tickets that are good for the whole day to hop on and hop off as you wish.
#12) Food In Cuba
Most people complain and say that the food is bad in Cuba, but this is actually not true.
I've noticed that when I leave the resort, the food is really good.
The food quality and taste will vary depending on the hotel you’re staying at. I’ve stayed at the Melia Las Americas and Royalton Hicacos and both hotels had great food especially at the A La Carte restaurants.
If you want a truly five star dining experience in Varadero, I would highly recommend to go to the DuPont Mansion also known as the Xanadu Mansion in Varadero. The drinks, the service, the food is just incredible!! There is also a rooftop bar that also sells cigars you can enjoy. If you go around sunset, you're going to be able to see the most gorgeous sunset view.
#13) VIP Airport Lounge.
It's absolutely worth the money. The fee is $30 USD or $40 CAD and I believe they have them in all the major airports in Cuba. You can either pay for access at your hotel with your airline representative with a credit card or when you get to the airport, simply look for a lady with a sign walking around that says “VIP Lounge” and you would pay her (cash only). The lounge is fully air conditioned (the airport is not air conditioned), you get free snacks, free food and one hour of free WI-FI, and there's also a smoking section in that lounge.
The other big perk to paying for the lounge is that the lady will take you to the front of the check-in line for your flight, a separate line for customs, and then you go through security and then she'll take you to the lounge. The lady is with you throughout the whole time, escorting you which is great if something happens. The sounds of Salsa & Reggaeton coming from pretty much all the stores and restaurants in South Beach, combined with the multitude of amazing shopping, great unique restaurants & the beautiful hot sun is what makes Miami the city that it is.
Miami Beach is the island right off the mainland and this is more of the wild party scene. Collins Ave runs along the beach from South Beach to Sunny Isles Beach. Collins Ave in South Beach is where you can find the shopping & lots of restaurants. My first time in Miami was in January 2020 and then we went again a few times in 2021. Miami is a big city with so much to see and do. There is a big art scene, unique shopping & fantastic restaurants.
If you want a more upscale chill vibe head over to Coconut Grove or Key Biscayne. Both are much more upscale parts of Miami and have much better restaurants in my opinion.

This is another beautiful French bakery where you can have some nice pastries and coffee if you need a Starbucks alternative.
This restaurant is located in a very beautiful upscale part of Miami on the mainland called Coconut Grove. We had dinner here with our friends a few times and I highly recommended this place! The food is delicious, reasonably priced with great service.
Make sure to sit in the bar area to take advantage of the Happy Hour Menu.
We’ve eaten here 3 times already and the food is just incredible. Make sure to ask for their drink specials, they may have the 2 for 1 sangria special. My favourite on the menu is the Fragole salad and the Filet Mignon Carpaccio. All their pizzas are incredible you can’t go wrong but make sure to save room for desert because you HAVE TO try the Pave! It’s the best desert I’ve ever had.
This restaurant has several locations in Miami but we ate at the one in Lincoln Rd Mall. The food & drinks are fantastic and they have a very large & beautifully decorated patio. There are also lots of heaters located on those cooler Miami nights.
The Empanadas & Tostones are a must here!
This is an upscale Argentinean Grill where we had dinner one night. The food is absolutely amazing, great service, the vibe is beautiful and they have a large beautiful patio. It’s more on the higher price point but it’s worth the money.
You definitely have to go with the Empanadas, Sam’s Chopped Salad & Parrilla. The salad is actually a perfect side for the steak in my opinion. It balances it out and you don’t feel so heavy after.
Our server recommended one of the best Malbec wines I’ve ever had. So if you like our red wine you must order the Malbec Terrazas De Los Andes ‘Las Compuertas’, Mendoza. You will thank me.
All in all, Miami is a beautiful city with so much to do. The beach isn’t my favourite but there are so many stunning beaches a short drive away. Check out my blog on the Best Beaches in South Florida.
We found January to be too cold and we definitely expected it to be a lot hotter. I noticed most days it’s between 20-24 degrees. So if you don’t like crazy heat, then you’re better off going in January or February but if you like the heat wait until like April – October when it gets to be almost 40 degrees.

Spending a lot of time somewhere allows you to see more of that place. We’ve been to many beaches in South Florida and these are by far my favourite beaches and I’ve listed them in order of favourites.
Florida beaches are actually very much underrated. The beaches here are all so unique from the North to the South of the West and East coast. The West coast of Florida has the softest whitest sand that’s like flour and the East coast has golden and grey sand.
If you love collecting shells, then Florida’s West coast is the best for that. There are so many treasures you can find without even trying. You will find lots of marine life including lots of fish, manatees, dolphins and sea turtle nests.
We’ve never actually seen sea turtle's but when you go to the beach you will see little areas with wooden sticks and yellow or orange tape to block off the area where they have their nests. The Florida government is very strict to protect the sea turtles they list all the rules on signs at the beach and there is even a phone number to call if you see someone tampering with the nests.
Twice we saw a huge manatee swimming in the ocean when we were in the water at Naples Beach and Anna Maria Island! Don’t worry they are totally harmless. You can see dolphins if you take a boat out or even on sea doos further out in the ocean.
There are amazing water activities you can do if you get bored of suntanning, like kayaking in the little rivers behind the beach, sea dooing, boating, deep-sea fishing, parasailing, doing a romantic sunset cruise, jet skiing, and paddle boarding.

This is definitely my favourite beach! It’s amazing how the beach changes as you drive from Miami to Boca. The water is an unbelievable emerald greenish-blue colour, so clear all the way to the bottom and the sand is a greyish colour that looks so beautiful together with the water.
You’ll find many families at the beach, it doesn’t have that party vibe like at Fort Lauderdale or Miami. The water is the perfect temperature to keep you refreshed in the 40 degree summer heat of Florida. I found so many fish swimming around our feet constantly when we were in the water! Bring your snorkel gear so you can see them.
Lovers Key Beach State Park
Lovers Key Beach State Park
This beach is in a national park and there is a $10 fee to enter which covers parking as well. Depends which part of the beach you want to go to, the walk can be long so they have a trolly that will take you to the furthest part of the beach which is where I took this photo. When you exit the trolly you have to walk a good 5 minutes to the left where there is the least amount of people and you should be able to see a long sand patch that goes out with water on both sides. It’s worth the walk!
The last trolly leaves at 4:45 pm. We stayed to watch the sunset which was a mistake because it was a 15-minute walk back to the car and we got eaten alive by no-see-ums! They’re tiny little bugs that bite you but you can’t see them. The bites are worse than mosquito bites and last a whole week where you’re applying hydrocortisone. So my tip is not to stay past 4:45 pm and take the trolly back because these no-see-ums come out around sunset and very early in the morning.
If you use bug spray you might be ok because we used bug spray when we went to the everglades on a rainy cloudy day and didn’t get one bite.

The beach here reminds me of Lovers Key. The water was super wild and wavy and this is where we saw a huge manatee swim right beside us! We went to the part where you can see the drastic colour change. The dark colour of the water means it’s very deep there and when we were in the water we can tell how fast it went deep. So just be careful if you’re in that area since the dark blue area is so deep that’s probably where the manatee came from and there are probably sharks there. We didn’t see any sharks luckily.
We went to the end of the island but note there isn't any parking where we were you had a small area to park on the street. So if you want to go there it’s best to go during the week to find a parking spot which is what we did.

Naples beach is amazing. White soft sand and greenish-blue water. Lots of parking but it gets full on the weekends so go early or late around 3 pm you’ll get a spot around that time. The best part is you’re close to all the beautiful restaurants that I recommend in my blog post about the Best Restaurants in Naples.
The closer you are to the pier the more people will be there so if you’re not into large crowds just walk down further. We like to park a few parking lots away from the pier.

This beach reminds me of Varadero Cuba! The water is much more clear and soft white sand. Of course in Varadero, the beach is a different colour but this is the closest beach in Florida that resembles Cuba. I also love this beach because it’s on the St Armand Key full of amazing restaurants and shops.

Fort Lauderdale is more of a Miami party vibe if you’re close to where all the restaurants are but you can find part of the beach that is more chill if you drive away from the restaurant area. I really love this beach because the water is a stunning turquoise greenish-blue colour, so clear & clean with golden sand! I couldn’t believe how beautiful the beach was here. It’s so different from Miami. The water is the perfect cool temperature just like in Boca Raton that keeps you refreshed in the 40-degree heat.
Key Biscayne

It’s interesting how much better this beach is compared to Miami even though it’s so close to South Beach. Key Biscayne is overall very clean and beautiful, high-end with great restaurants. There are a few public beaches with parking. I highly recommend this beach. Golden sand, and greenish-blue clear water! Perfect if you’re looking for a more laid back relaxed family vibe.
Even the beach at the Key Biscayne Causeway is very nice & clean.
Sanibel & Captiva

This is such a cute and laid back island off of Fort Myers. It has that small Florida Island vibe, lots of cute restaurants and there are many beaches you can go to. The beach near the lighthouse is so beautiful and you can keep driving up north to Captiva as well. This is a great place to look for shells.

The sand here is unbelievable, so soft and white like flour. The beach is very large and the water is clear and wavy. It was cloudy the day we were here but still so beautiful. A great beach for family or couples or friends. Very laid back and there is a small little town with lots of shops and restaurants to explore after you’re done at the beach.

We nicknamed it turtle beach because it’s full of gopher turtles! They’re everywhere so be careful when you drive and before you drive away check under your car. Yes, they might be there, I’ve seen them. To get to this beach you will drive through all these beautiful homes and condos and at the end is a large parking lot. The fee to get in is $8 and covers the parking. The beach is just beautiful, very similar to Naples beach.
I would say if you plan to stay past sunset at any of the beaches, have bug spray with you so you avoid the no-see-ums biting you.
If you haven’t yet been to any of these beaches you will love it! Florida is truly a great place to live or visit.

One of the most beautiful cities in South West Florida, is Naples. It is picturesque, clean, cultural, beautiful, and cozy. Downtown Naples is located so close to the beach just walk 2 minutes down 5th Avenue. There are hotels and gorgeous condos with shopping and gourmet restaurants. At night, the downtown lights up with what looks like Christmas lights but it seems they’re there all year but it adds a nice touch to the city.
There are no restrictions to enjoy a beautiful romantic dinner in Naples and no reservations are needed. There is a wide choice of cuisine as well from American, Italian, French, Persian, and Japanese. Make sure to dress up when you go for dinner in Naples as it’s a more upscale luxurious town and you will definitely feel out of place because everyone dresses up to go out in Naples.
I’ve been on many date nights with my husband in Naples and have tried so many of the restaurants there so here are my favourite picks for the best date night restaurants in Naples, Florida that you have to check out on your next date. If you’re looking for a high-end steakhouse that is upscale, with amazing food, services, and a luxury vibe, this place is perfect! A fine dining luxury experience that won’t break your wallet. I had the Japanese Wagyu Strip Steak with the Jalapeno Au Gratin Potatoes and Organic Asparagus to share. Make sure to save room for dessert because the Key Lime Pie is incredible!
We’ve been here twice and loved it each time. This is a gourmet restaurant with a romantic vibe that is not expensive. They have half-price drinks at the bar from 3-5 pm daily. There is always live music at 8:30 pm and room to dance to work off those calories from dinner.
For the most romantic vibe make sure to have a seat on the side patio in the little pathway with all the lights.
We’ve tried the Originale and Monticello pizzas and the Carpaccio and Burrata salad.
This place has a very romantic rustic vibe with a gorgeous patio. We’ve been here twice and I’ve gotten the Garganelli pasta twice because it’s unbelievable but all their pasta look so good. This one is like a bolognese with lamb and sheep cheese! Never had anything like it. We're always too full for desert so next time I will be trying the desert because they look so good! I will either go for the Peach Crumble or the Spiced Pear Crostata, so stay tuned on my Instagram stories.
Tommy Bahama is not the cheapest restaurant but they always have daily specials and the food and cocktails are really good. Make sure to try the Macadamia-Crusted Goat Cheese, Blue Crab Bisque, Grilled Chicken & Mango Salad (lunch), and the Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos (lunch). They also make the best Pina Coladas!
We really loved this place! It is another upscale steakhouse in Naples but located on 3rd St. If you love caviar as much as we do, make sure to try it because it was incredible. We also had the Yellowtail Carpaccio, Steak Tartare, Heirloom Tomato Carpaccio salad, Iowa Fillet Mignon, and a side of Creamed Corn. All in all, we splurged to a $500 dinner but sometimes you just have to and luckily it was worth every bite!
Gourmet seafood that’s organic and sustainable. A beautiful fine dining experience in the historic Naples district on 3rd St. We happened to go there between 4-6 pm so we took advantage of their 4-course dinner special for 2 that was phenomenal! It is $80 and includes a bottle of house white or red wine. It’s a set 4-course dinner and the food is incredible! We’ll definitely be back there.
This is another fine dining restaurant in the historic Naples district on 3rd St that features a rustic contemporary Italian menu. Make sure to try the early dining menu from 5-6 pm which is $29.95 per person for a 2-course menu. They change up what is on the menu but when we went, we had the meatballs to start and finished off with the Garganelli & Spaghetti Alla Chitarra pasta. The food, ambiance, and service were 5 stars, I highly recommend this place!
Naples is a perfect city for a dinner date or a lunch date. You can take a beautiful walk after dinner or lunch, check out the shops, maybe grab an ice cream or coffee on your walk from one of the many cozy ice cream shops and little cafes.
There is also another small strip of shops and restaurants along 3rd St that is another mini downtown and is just as beautiful and the last 4 restaurants are located there.
